Job Opportunity: Carpenter Apprentice

Evers & Sons is seeking Carpenter Apprentices to assist Carpenters and perform basic physical labor tasks on construction sites.

Prequalification's

A GED or high school diploma and/or two years of relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Enrolled in trade school and/or registered apprenticeship program (Evers will assist with this if needed)
  • Be highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented with proven strong time-management and organizational skills
  • A can-do attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be knowledgeable of basic tools and able to operate basic powers tools such as; cordless drills/drivers, jigsaws, table saws, sanders, grinders, air compressors, tape measures, etc.

Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Assist with setting, bracing, and aligning forms in place with lumber, timbers, turnbuckles, clamps, wall ties, coil rods, etc., for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls
  • Measure and cut lumber, drywall, and/or paneling to specified dimensions
  • Tend to pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools and equipment
  • Work in excavations deeper than four feet
  • Transport and organize and provide necessary tools, equipment, and materials for the job site
  • Erect containment to keep the job site neat and organized
  • Perform basic tasks such as sanding, caulking, fastening, cutting, and measuring
  • Hold string lines, plumb bobs, sighting rods, or other equipment
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Haul and hoist materials
  • Signal equipment operators to move machinery, equipment, and materials
  • Builds and disassembles scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary structures used on construction sites.
  • Notify the supervisor and address potential safety hazards in a timely fashion
  • Must keep work area, tools, and equipment clean and in working condition
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures and obtain certifications at Company/Client request, including but not limited to BBP, Onsite Orientations, First Aid, CPR, Annual OSHA Training, PEC, H2S

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position and the environmental conditions likely encountered during the performance. The employee will be regularly required to communicate and effectively exchange information with other employees. The employee will be required to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch and move about in a construction environment, including being able to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to lift and move up to 15 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision acuity, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts and equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, some occasional high noise levels may be expected.
